Oak beds

Our oak beds are Made in Sheffield, just two miles from our showroom at the Natural Bed Company on Devonshire Street. We make our oak beds in all standard sizes from single to superking. Our oak beds are made to order so we can also make them in special sizes - maybe you have a Continental size mattress or want an extra long bed. It's no problem, just ask us for a quote.

We can also modify many of our oak beds - maybe you'd like a Zanskar bed with shorter legs or a Sonora with longer legs. Again, just ask, we'll almost certainly say yes, we can. We can also make our oak beds without headboards (the Sahara is a popular oak bed without a headboard) - as a rough guide to the price, deduct 15%. Oak beds made as special orders like these need to be ordered by email or phone.

The evolution of our Oak Beds!

Our first oak beds were designed for the attic bedrooms of Sheffield. Our main design considerations were that they could be easily carried upstairs and were low - to fit under the eaves and look good with low, sloping ceilings. We also wanted our oak beds to be easily self assembled!

Our earliest oak beds were the Kumo and the Nevada, they remain among our most popular beds. Recently we've extended these designs: the Kyoto Oak Bed is a slightly higher version of the Kumo, with space for Underbed Drawers - great for the ever present need for storage. The Sonora Oak Bed is the same style as the Nevada but with a higher headboard to support more pillows.

Of course not everyone wants a low bed - the Malabar Oak Bed has essentially the same design details as the Nevada but is higher off the floor - and has a high headboard panel for pillow lovers. Being higher creates space for Underbed Drawers - you can fit four per bed. The Tibet Oak Bed is another similar style, but higher still. Like the Nevada, Sahara, Sonora, Kumo and Kyoto beds, the mattress on the Malabar Oak Bed sits on the edge of the frame, not inside it, which means the bed has a smaller footprint on the floor and takes up less room - an advantage if you want to fit a big bed into a small room.

We make three beds with a sloping headboards for those who like to read in bed: The Java Oak Bed is a low bed with chunky legs and a sloping headboard. The Oregon Oak Bed is a popular low platform bed, also with a sloping headboard. The Zanskar Oak Bed is a higher, more classic height with a sharp, contemporary design.

Two popular recent additions are the Ocean Oak Bed - a very substantial, beautifully made oak bed with surrounding plinth, and the Oasis Oak Bed - a superb contemporary four poster oak bed.
